About the Wage Decrease Calculator
Use our Wage Decrease Calculator to see what a pay cut means: your new pay after a cut, the cut in % between two pays, or your pay before a cut — hourly or yearly — and what the cut costs you per hour, week, month and year.
The cut in % is the drop divided by the original pay. For example, $25 an hour cut to $20 is a 20% cut: $5 an hour, $200 a week over 40 hours, and $10,400 a year over 52 paid weeks.
The calculator also shows what it would take to make the cut up. At $20 an hour you’d need 10 more hours a week to earn your old $1,000 a week. And getting back to $25 takes a 25% raise, not 20% — the raise starts from the lower pay. The extra hours and the raise are rounded up, so they always reach your old pay.
All figures are before taxes and deductions, with the same hours and paid weeks before and after the cut, so treat the results as an estimate. For a raise, use our Salary Increase Calculator; to find the hours or the rate it takes to earn an amount, our Hours To Money Calculator.
