About the Stock Yield Calculator
Use our Stock Yield Calculator to find a stock’s dividend yield — the yearly dividend as a percentage of the share price — or the highest price you can pay and still get the yield you want.
Enter the dividend paid on one share each time and how often it’s paid: monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly. The calculator works out the yearly dividend per share and divides it by the share price.
Add what you paid per share to see your yield on cost, and the number of shares you own to see your dividend income a year, each payment and a month on average. A guide shows what the yield usually means — a very high yield can be a warning sign rather than a bargain.
The dividend is assumed to stay the same for a year, and taxes are not included, so treat the results as an estimate. To work out the profit when you sell, use our Stock Profit Calculator.
