About the Retirement Income Calculator
Use our Retirement Income Calculator to estimate your net monthly income in retirement, or the portfolio you need for the income you want.
It adds your portfolio withdrawals — a share of your savings each year, often 4% — to Social Security, a pension and any other income, then takes off an estimated tax.
The tax is a simple estimate: your effective tax rate on the share of each income you expect to be taxed. It doesn’t model tax brackets, Social Security tax rules or state taxes, so check the figures with a tax professional.
This is a one-year snapshot in today’s dollars: it doesn’t model inflation, investment growth or how long your savings last, and a withdrawal rate is a planning assumption, not a guarantee.
