Monthly Budget Calculator
See Where Your Money Goes and What’s Left to Save.
About the Monthly Budget Calculator
Use our Monthly Budget Calculator to see where your money goes each month — your take-home pay against your expenses, and what’s left over to save.
Enter your pay for one pay period — monthly, twice a month, every 2 weeks, weekly or yearly — and it’s turned into a monthly amount. Then fill in the expense categories that apply; anything left empty counts as zero.
The results show what’s left over (or the deficit if you spend more than you earn), your savings rate, and each category’s share of income next to a common guideline, such as 25–35% for housing. The totals for a year are shown too. To compare your savings rate with the 15% and 20% benchmarks, use our Savings Rate Calculator. If you share a home, use our Split Rent By Income Calculator to divide the rent fairly; if your rent is going up, our Rent Increase Calculator shows what it adds up to.
The guidelines are rules of thumb, not advice, and real costs vary from month to month, so treat the results as an estimate. To give every dollar of your income a job, use our Zero-Based Budget Calculator; to see how long your savings would last, our How Long Will My Money Last Calculator. To check how far a month came in under or over your plan, try our Budget Percent Calculator. To see how fast prices are rising for your own mix of spending, use our Personal Inflation Rate Calculator. To turn utility bills that come weekly, quarterly or yearly into one monthly figure for your budget, use our Utilities Cost Per Month Calculator. To split your spending into fixed and variable costs and check your housing and debt payments against the 28% and 36% guides, use our Personal Cash Flow Analysis Calculator.
