Couple Retirement Calculator
Plan Your Retirement Together, Partner by Partner.
About the Couple Retirement Calculator
Use our Couple Retirement Calculator to see whether your combined savings could reach the amount you need by the time both of you have retired.
Each partner has their own age, retirement age and yearly contribution. A partner’s contributions stop when they retire, and your savings keep growing until the later of your two retirement dates.
Your savings target is the yearly spending you want, less Social Security, pensions and other income, divided by a withdrawal rate — with 4%, 25 times what your savings must provide. The calculator shows a surplus or shortfall, and the extra yearly saving that would close a gap.
Everything is shown in today’s dollars, using your return after inflation. Returns are kept steady and taxes are not included, so treat the results as a planning estimate. To plan for one person, use our Retirement Calculator with Inflation; to see the income your savings could pay, use our Retirement Income Calculator.
